The Country Music Awards were held on Nov. 8 in Nashville, Tennessee. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosted the award show for the 10th consecutive year together.
The awards began with a dedication to all the victims and families of the recent mass shooting and hurricanes.
The CMA awards began in 1967 as a way to honor a specific genre of music. It has grown significantly from there with over 25 artists who performed at this year’s event, including Thomas Rhett, Lady Antebellum, and Keith Urban
Entertainer of the Year, the highest honored award, was given to Garth Brooks for the second year in a row. The other nominees in the category were Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, and Chris Stapleton.
Similar to other award shows, the CMA awards are voted on by more than 6,300 members of the industry. Members of the Country Music Association are music executives, artists, publicists, songwriters, musicians, touring professionals and more from all around the world.
Other honored awards were given to Taylor Swift’s ‘Better Man’, winning Song of the Year; Chris Stapleton’s album ‘From A Room: Volume 1’ winning Album of the Year and Miranda Lambert winning Female Vocalist of the Year.
Alan Jackson closed out the show with an amazing performance of his 1990 song, ‘Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow’.
