On May 2, an alarming incident happened at Orono during after school hours. No Orono students were involved in the initiation, or aware in advance of the situation. While after school sports practices were in session, three individuals (none being Orono Residents or students) entered OHS.
Due to the security Orono has, they were able to catch images of the individuals on the cameras, and they were later identified. The individuals got into the boy’s locker room as they damaged and stole students items. The Orono Police department was involved and working with Orono in evaluating the situation.
As a result of this incident, All outside doors with access to the gym and locker rooms will be locked. The school will make further changes and continually assure that all students safety is protected.
