April 21 marks the one-year anniversary of Prince’s death. In remembrance, Gov. Mark Dayton announced the day be termed “Prince Day”. There will be celebrations honoring Prince at both the First Avenue nightclub, where Prince performed many of his shows, and Paisley Park, Prince’s previous private estate and now museum.
Minnesotans can also see the I-35W bridge, Hennepin County Lowry Avenue Bridge, the IDS Center, U.S. Bank Stadium and Target Field all lit up in purple, the legacy’s favorite color.
A number of Prince’s previous songs will be reissued on April 22. On June 9, fans can look for the release of the Purple Rain Deluxe album featuring a reissue of Prince’s well-known song Purple Rain as well as a number of previously unreleased tracks.
