Spring Break is creeping up this year, officially starting March 25th through the 29th. For those that don’t have a vacation spot in mind here’s a helpful hand in deciding the destination of your dreams.
Staying Home: There are many cool places to check out in Minnesota — such as Minnehaha Falls, itis a sight to be seen, the winter temperatures have frozen the waterfall, creating an icy wall. Do some shopping or give some rides a go at the Mall of America. Visit the many museums Minneapolis has to offer. “This spring break I am staying home.” Junior Grace Larson said.
Yellowstone National Park: It’s difficult not to see the beauty of Yellowstone, in this 3,471 square mile of the park sits on top of a volcanic hot spot home to a wide variety of wildlife — including bears, moose, elk, and bison — and the famous old faithful.
The United States Capital: Rich in history dating all the way back to George Washington when he first laid the U.S. Capitol cornerstone at the southeast corner of its foundation. Visit the Lincoln Memorial, The Washington Monument, and the home to the United States presidents at the White House.
The Big Apple: Take an adventure to Manhattan, see the statue of liberty, take a stroll in Central Park, and stand at the top on the empire state building. Check out the theatre district and see a Broadway performance to make the trip unforgettable.
The Sunshine State: Spend time with family at Walt Disney World Resort have a day defying gravity and eating churros. Sit on the beach and soak up the sunshine. “I am going to Florida and I plan on sitting on the beach and swimming.” Freshman Clara Delattre said.
Hawaii: Escape the cold to tropical Hawaii take a hike at Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. watch the sunset over the ocean for a beautiful array of colors. Lounge by the beach sipping out of a coconut and enjoy the warmth for a week.
Rome: When in Rome visit Circus Maximus the ancient chariot racing stadium along with entertainment center built during the Old Kingdom era. Rome is also known for nearly three thousand years of globally influential art and architecture. Making it a vacation to remember.
The city of lights: Paris France, climb to the top of the Eiffel tower or do some shopping the fashion capital. With lots historical buildings — including Louvre Museum, housing a huge art collection
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, the medieval Catholic cathedral being a marvelous example of French Gothic architecture.
London: With the history going back to Roman times it’s not hard to find something to do — such as the famous clock; Big Ben. take a ride on the London Eye.
Barcelona: Also known for its art and architecture its a great vacay destination for it is filled with a long history and many tourist attractions — including Casa Milà known as “The Stone Quarry” it is a modernist building in Barcelona. — It’ll be a vacation filled with new experiences and a great place for those who love to travel.
Mexico: A beautiful spot for a vacation where many can choose to chill on the beach with a day of tanning in the sun and swimming in the ocean or visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum or Coba. “I am going to Cabo this spring break.” sophomore Abbie Jacoves said.
With hundreds of cities to travel it’s understandable why finding the perfect vacation spot may be hard, whether you are looking for a tropical spot or not whatever is decided make spring break 2019 hard to forget.
