Alyssa Schroeder attended the University of Minnesota – Mankato and got her Bachelor’s in special education with an emphasis on autism and developmental disabilities. Schroeder said her plan is to go back and get her Master’s degree. She worked at Burnsville for one year prior to coming to work at Orono this year.
“Orono is a great school and it is hard to compare it to other schools because of, the community feeling. Everyone is positive, supportive, and engaged in learning here,” Schroeder said.

Schroeder has only been working here since the first day of school, but she has already picked up on key aspects that push others to come to Orono.

“It isn’t just a school, but a community,” Schroeder said. She said that she has had a great experience so far with the students and staff being friendly.

This school year will be full of ups and downs for Schroeder, but she is looking forward to getting to know the students and staff and being able to learn alongside the students. Aside from the school aspect, Schroeder got to run her first marathon this summer.
