Ms. Head
Erin Head is an Orono alumni who went to Cornell University to get her Bachelor’s, University of Wisconsin – Madison and Hamline University for her Master’s degree. She is Orono’s newest ELL teacher, which stands for English-language learners.
An ELL teacher’s job is to help people, in this case high school students, learn subjects in the English language if they speak another language or if they are trying to integrate them into the curriculum.
Head has been teaching for 15 years in schools in Minneapolis, as well as schools in Jefferson County, Colorado.
“There is a smaller ELL population here, but it is fun to get to know the curriculum that the students are learning,” Head said.
She said she is glad to be back at Orono and see how things have changed since she attended here.
“I am excited to give back and be part of the awesome academics and share the skills that I have learned since I graduated,” Head said.
Head wants the students to know that her door is always open and she would love to talk to anyone about the ELL world.
