Ms. Fritz

Ellen Fritz has worked at Orono Intermediate School, Orono Middle School, and Orono Preschool as well as Minneapolis Public Schools as a speech teacher. She has been teaching for 20 years and has three kids who attend Orono. Having her kids at Orono was a push for her to apply for the job as well as it being the closest district to where she lives.
Adjusting to the high school schedule has not been the easiest task. “The hardest part about adjusting is the Spartan Hour and regular schedule and learning how to get around during passing time. The students and staff are friendly though,” Fritz said.

Everyday Fritz works with small groups of students who need to work on social skills, reading comprehension and communication.
“This year I have eight kids who I’ve had as students in fourth and fifth grade. They are much taller than me and it is fun to see how much they have grown,” Fritz said. This year Fritz is looking forward to getting to know the staff and learn more about the students in the high school.

“It feels like a very upbeat, positive work atmosphere,” Fritz said.
