A new year brings great new movies. January 2016 brings a course of new movies to the theatre. Sit back and learn about which movie is the movie for you.

On Jan. 1, New Year’s Day, The Hateful Eight, premiered in theatre. This movie is rated R and follows the story of a Civil War bounty hunter who gets trapped in a winter storm and must bring his prisoner to prison. This movie includes some famous actors such as Channing Tatum and Samuel L. Jackson.

The Revenant and The Forest, both premiere on Jan 8, 2016.

Following a bear attack and being left for dead, Hugh Glass must seek vengeance against his hunting party for abandoning him. The Revenant is rated R. Hugh Glass is portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio.

In Japan, sudden horrors arise in a forest. Natalie Dormer and Taylor Kinney star in The Forest. The film is rated PG-13.

Jan. 15, 2016 brings movies such as 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Ride Along 2 and Norm of the North to theatres.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi has not yet been rated but follows the story of a security team trying to understand what is going on when the U.S. ambassador dies in the embassy. Max Martini and John Krasinski star in this movie.

Ride Along 2, starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, follows the story of a man and his brother-in-law who have to go to Miami to stop a drug deal before his wedding. This film is rated PG-13.

In Norm of the North, Norm and his friends wind up in New York City. Meanwhile, they become a mascot for a major corporation. This film is rated PG.

On Friday Jan. 22, 2016 films such as The 5th Wave, Dirty Grandpa and The Boy come to theatres.

The 5th Wave, starring Chloe Grace Moretz, follows the story of a sister who must save her younger brother from the increasing alien attacks. This sci-fi film is rated PG-13.

Zac Efron and Robert De Niro, star in Dirty Grandpa. In this film, a grandson is tricked by his grandpa to go to Florida for a spring break right before his wedding. This film is rated R.

After a nanny finds out that the child she would babysit is a life-size doll, she begins to become disturbed that the doll is actually alive. The Boy stars Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans. Meanwhile, the film is rated PG-13.

Five great movies premiere on January 29 such as Fifty Shades of Black, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Finest Hours and Jane Got a Gun.

Fifty Shades of Black is a parody of Fifty Shades of Grey. This film is rated R and stars Jane Seymour and Marlon Wayans.

Po must face two main challenges in Kung Fu Panda 3, such as his father’s return and supernatural forces. Kung Fu Panda 3 is rated PG and stars Jack Black and Angelina Jolie.

In 1952, the coast guard rescues two oil tankers after they are destroyed by a blizzard. The Finest Hours is rated PG-13 and stars Chris Pine and Ben Foster.

Asking for help from someone isn’t always easy, but Jane must ask her ex save her husband from a gang out to get him. Jane Got a Gun is not yet rated. Natalie Portman portrays Jane in Jane Got a Gun.
