Hot springtime fashion melts away icy cold

This winter has brought on nothing except ice and snow, however, spring fashion brings hot trends.

Pastels are the perfect color palette for Spring 2014. Light aquas, lavenders and bubble gum pinks leave the runway feeling fresh and airy. This trend is truly versatile; dresses, skirts, ankle jeans, scarves, almost any piece of a Spring outfit can be sewn and tailored into a pastel shade.

Pastels work great for the daytime, which leaves a new trend for the night.

Fashion houses DKNY and BCBG Max Azria both filled their shows with the infamous crop top. Crop tops work best when paired with high waisted shorts or jeans. This combination makes for a perfect night out in the Spring heat.

Fashion icon Calvin Klein graced his runways with sheer fabrics. Peek-a-boo sheer panels replace last year’s trend of cut-outs on dresses. Scarves and cardigans, made of sheer materials, also embrace CK’s trend. These light-weight materials can be found at American Eagle.

In 2014, the “no white after Labor Day” rule is broken. Derek Lam’s spring collection includes coveted white pants. This trend carries over into jeans, shorts and skirts. Pair one’s whitest whites with a saturated top to really set off the elegance of the light color.

Beauty bitty; the most important beauty ritual of the spring involves hair. To keep colored, texturized and damaged hair healthy, use Argan oil. Extracted from the Argan tree, native to Morocco, the oil heals the ends of hair while making it silky smooth. Brands like Josie Maran along with Bumble and Bumble both make blends of Argan oils to keep locks healthy.

For best appearance, apply Argan oil to the ends of hair after blow drying.

Fringe is the newest alteration to fabric in order to match the standards of spring style. Added to the bottoms of tanks and dresses, fringe adds a girly flair to any outfit without becoming overpowering. Another way to wear this trend in moderation is to pair a spring outfit with a fringe bag or clutch.

As far as dressing up, the shirt dress is the biggest trend for spring. Wear shirt dresses with denim or a floral pattern. Shirt dresses are accentuated perfectly with a stretchy belt at the waist.

These trends are just the beginning of Spring fashion. As the ice begins to thaw, more trends will reveal themselves, adding to the marvelous collection of 2014.
