    James J. Hill Days Recap

    James+J.+Hill+Days+Recap

James J. Hill Days took place Sept. 6-8 in downtown Wayzata. It’s a community-wide event that has been taking place for 38 years bringing together family, friends, and the local community.

“I love the sense of community and unity when everyone gathers for the James J Hill days events” said junior Heather Alton.

The three day event was jam-packed with activities. Each day the Lake Minnetonka Carnival took place.  It consisted of rides, games, and food. The night of Sept. 7 marked the concert series featuring Big and Rich complemented with fireworks at dusk. The Capstone Parade of the event was on the afternoon of Sunday Sept. 8. There was a parade that consisted of the local sponsors, the Wayzata High School band, and the local churches within the area.

In addition, there were other numerous events, including a water ski show, a motorsports show, and a street dance. Throughout the event, there were vendors and sponsors lining the street, as well as a variety of food trucks. The local stores that dotted the festival took place in the event by offering sales and discounts to the customers.

The addition of the Lake Minnetonka Carnival this year had the community exhilarated and thrilled to attend the event. “I felt like I was at a mini Minnesota State Fair in my local community,” said senior Kacie Limesand.

For those that were unable to attend James J. Hill Days this year, make it a must on the calendar for the summers to follow.

From the Lake Minnetonka Carnival, to parade, and the concert series, there’s fun for all ages.
