GSA Wants You

Most people have heard about the LGBTQ community, but don’t know about the resurgance of the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) club at OHS. The GSA club is a very new, welcoming club for all people. GSA is a good time for all club members.

GSA offers very import things for students like a safe space. You can join the club, gay or straight, and with complete privacy. There is no fee for the fun activities that go on during a GSA Spartan Hour meeting.

GSA has affected students lives in very important ways. According to Terry Hurley of MA Education, having a safe spot at school is very import for students, and that is exactly want this club offers.

“Its an open door club for education and loving each other because school can be hard for some kids… it’s pretty great,” GSA co-founder and sophomore Freddy  Johnson said.

Straight people are welcome to come sign in for a spartan hour, eat some snacks, and learn about their friends in the club.

Being straight has it’s benefits to joining GSA. Students become educated about other students around them and can make new friends.

“We have slide presentations, videos, we’ve gone through sexuality and gender expression and all that. We have educated our group so far. We’ve watched movies too. It’s mostly hanging out [especially] for if people have questions,” Johnson said.
GSA members want it to be known that it is a safety zone for all students. All students are welcome to come and enjoy the fun that the GSA club has to offer. Complete privacy can be 100% guaranteed upon request. Contact a GSA member and join one of their Spartan Hour meetings.
